The EMD GP30 diesel locomotive was introduced in 1961 and was built through 1963. The GP30 was EMD?s first locomotive to incorporate a ?short? hood for safety and featured a new 16 cylinder engine increasing horsepower from early Geep models. Over 900 GP30s were built and could be found on Railroads from coast to coast.
